week 4

Dear all,

I have gone through a very exciting stage in our studies and learned a lot from my mates comments. So many useful sites we all have tried and visited.

I really enjoy this week. I love the way how we are heading towards our final project. It is good to see all the steps we should make. Unfortunately sometimes I do not have the time to think about everything while preparing for my lessons as normally I teach 29 lessons a week (5 lessons are those ones I spend with students who feel they would like to do it and have fun.). This course brought new things to light and I love exploring and trying out new things.

Sorry for being very short but I can not put my thoughts together as we have been robbed out.

3rd week

Hi everyone,

Almost done with the third week in the course.

This week was very busy for me I have tried several sites and I have saved them on delicious for further usage.

I found out more about what I am expected to do as a project and now I have an almost clear picture of what I wish to do. I have decided on which group to work together with and asked them and their parents  about working together with me on a new project. I am very lucky to say that both my students and their parents are enthusiastic about new types of learning and taking part in it. We have agreed on the fact that I will take away some of their free time as we do not have computer and internet access during our lessons at school. I am going to organize learning through a chat program. I feel that everybody is very supportive not only my group and their parents but also teachers in the webskills group. Thank you all!

I have done one of the authentic listening with my 8th graders and let me tell you they seemed to enjoy it though at first it was hard for them. I did it with pre-, while- and post-listening activities. Pre-listening activities helped them during listening as we have discussed new vocabulary. I think it was only the first step and change is on its way into my lessons.

I also tried the Halloween lesson with one of my intermediate groups and they were eager to do the tasks and they talked more than ever in my classes. They were divided into four groups and each group had a different task and after twenty minutes they presented their task to the other groups. It was good to see them use English and communicate in English during the lesson.

In both of the lessons kids were in a non-threatening environment and only the group heard them speaking and they could volunteer to talk for the group. I am very satisfied with the fact that they tried hard and used English for communication.

Looking forward to new challenges.

second week :)

Hi,

I am here again with a lot of new things I have tried during this week.

It is good to know I am not alone and thank you everyone for your support and comments it really helps a lot.

First of all I have never thought learning methodology can be so exciting and understandable. I just can not stop reading the assigned material because they are very clear, reader friendly and straight to the point. This is the first experience when I do not feel I am just waisting my time reading theory and not doing anything with it. Good to take part in a course where theory and practice come hand in hand.

ABCD is great. I can save so much time and energy with it. I did something similar eariler on when preparing for my lessons but I always wrote long sentences. I will stick to this new way and write down the  most important things.

I used to think I searched on the web effectively but now I know that I was not. I learnt so many things form noodletools and helped me find the best search engines. I keep on trying some of the engines as I did not have time to try them all but yes google and yahoo are not the only ones.

Looking forward to hear your comments.
