3rd week

Hi everyone,

Almost done with the third week in the course.

This week was very busy for me I have tried several sites and I have saved them on delicious for further usage.

I found out more about what I am expected to do as a project and now I have an almost clear picture of what I wish to do. I have decided on which group to work together with and asked them and their parents  about working together with me on a new project. I am very lucky to say that both my students and their parents are enthusiastic about new types of learning and taking part in it. We have agreed on the fact that I will take away some of their free time as we do not have computer and internet access during our lessons at school. I am going to organize learning through a chat program. I feel that everybody is very supportive not only my group and their parents but also teachers in the webskills group. Thank you all!

I have done one of the authentic listening with my 8th graders and let me tell you they seemed to enjoy it though at first it was hard for them. I did it with pre-, while- and post-listening activities. Pre-listening activities helped them during listening as we have discussed new vocabulary. I think it was only the first step and change is on its way into my lessons.

I also tried the Halloween lesson with one of my intermediate groups and they were eager to do the tasks and they talked more than ever in my classes. They were divided into four groups and each group had a different task and after twenty minutes they presented their task to the other groups. It was good to see them use English and communicate in English during the lesson.

In both of the lessons kids were in a non-threatening environment and only the group heard them speaking and they could volunteer to talk for the group. I am very satisfied with the fact that they tried hard and used English for communication.

Looking forward to new challenges.
